And leaders from the organisation had to be doubly prepared when they met these two members.

Richard and Michael Lord, of Raymund Road, Old Marston, Oxford, were identical twins.

And they caused headaches to teachers and Scout leaders, by doing everything together.

The confusion continued for District Scout Commissioner Mike Shergold when he faced the task of presenting the 19-year-olds with their Queen’s Scout badges.

Their mother, Peggy, said: “They’ve always done everything together.

“One has smaller features than the other, but I’m the only one who can tell them apart.”

For family and friends who still don’t know the difference, Richard is on the left.
