Both Smarts’s Fish bar at the Peachcroft Shopping Centre in Abingdon and The Harbour Fish on Marlborough Street in Faringdon received a five-out-five rating after an inspection on August 24.
The Food Standards Agency (FSA) is responsible for rating hospitality venues across the country and gives them marks on a zero to five scale.

Five means hygiene standards are very good and zero is urgent improvement is required.
A five-out-of-five star rating means that food hygiene is ‘ very good’ at the establishment.
Inspectors assess levels of hygienic food handling, cleanliness and the condition of the building and the management of food safety during the inspections.
